This was my idea for a post-surgery sort-of-mindless-but-not-boring project. Took four tries (four!) to get beyond a few inches without an error - funny. Must have been the drugs.
Using lovely yarn from Michaela’s 2009 birthday blog drawing - merino/silk blend? - saved for something special. Very soft, very sheeny. Purty :)
Also using big needles instead of the teensy ones I used for Ann’s Baktus. That fabric looked like weaving and was very nice, but I wanted something softer for this very soft yarn with a very slight bloom. Cast on with US6; switched to US8 after set-up corner - looks better for shape and density, and only subtly different in gauge.
It’s knitting up very pleasantly so far, now that I’ve finally got it on the needles and moving along correctly!
update: 30 Sept - once I started feeling better, I sort of forgot about this project for a few days. Picked it up tonight and carried on for a while - the end is in sight. It’s turning out to be very soft and drapey. Just what I had in mind :)
finished and lovely - it was my WIP for the ride to Rhinebeck; wove ends in on the way. Will put away for special gift.
Nov 2013: for Kath in Glastonbury, who loves purple! Will block and send as a bonus surprise, with blog giveaway prize.
Dec 2013: tricksy blocking such soft yarn, but 2nd attempt successful. En route to UK :)
