You need a multiple of 7 for the base chain. For the Malabrigo yarn I did 70 ch with 7mm hook and then I used the 6mm hook.
For the Hilaturas LM Cindy yarn I made a 63 base chain using the 7mm hook and I work the cowl with the 6mm hook.
