I agree with other users that the directions are not super clear, and I had to guess at some parts, but it is working out and the repeat is easy enough to remember. I would say this is not for a novice/beginner crocheter. More for someone who has had experience with patterns and different stitches. I did two rows for the brim, but I think I might change it up for the next time. and do a few more rows. I crochet tightly and so far upping my hook size to a G for the brim works out fine for me.

The skulls are genius and I love how crisp they come out even using worsted weight yarn.

So using ILTY and Caron doesn’t work, it makes the hat bowl out on the second round. i thought I had messed up, messaged people, rocked in a corner the whole thing. So yeah… I’ll keep the brim, that is fine, but the hat will be pink instead of mixed. Note to self use same brand yarns next time.

Ok so finished with the hat. I do recommend reading each step before trying it or else you get a look on your face like I did when it came time to decrease. But then I figured it out, but that was my fault. Overall. Pattern is great. I think a few clarifications would make it an excellent pattern and they are very few minor details. I do think that the way it is written I wouldn’t recommend it for a novice crocheter. Only because it would likely frustrate them. I do like it with two rows of brim, I think I will make it with 3 the next time.
