Really looking forward to making this for trip to Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!

2/3 Bought tickets for the show! Going to have to finish this in 2 1/2 weeks!
2/5 am Finished Row 1 of Repeat 1 in Cowl.
2/5 pm Finished Row 3 of Repeat 3 in Cowl.
2/6 Finished Row 4 of Repeat 5 in cowl.
2/7 Finished Row 4 of Repeat 7 in Cowl.
2/8 Sadly discovered that I had cast on 120 sts instead of the prescribed 102. Also discovered that my gauge was off (18 sts/4” vs 20 sts/4”). Discovered the errors 4 rows before starting the Kerchief part. Eric convinced me to continue the project and take the stitches out along the way. I ended up tinking back 4 rows to attempt to remove some stitches.
2/9 Realized at the end of the first repeat of 6 rows in the Kerchief that I had taken out way too many stitches. (Somehow I got confused and tried to take out the total number of stitches that were to be removed over the 8 rows (8 stitches) and tried to take that many out on EACH side. Started tinking back and dropped some stitches. Got frustrated and frogged the whole thing after having completed ~55% of the project. I should have just started over when I realized the problem in the first place. I was rushing too much and didn’t take time to stand back and critique my work as I went along. I LOVE the pattern and don’t know why I kept making stupid mistakes.

Started afresh using size 4 needles and cast on the appropriate 102 stitches. Finished Row 1 of Repeat 2 of Cowl. Hopefully I can still make the deadline for finishing the cowl!! As I worked the project the second time realized that I had messed up the ribbed edging at the beginning of the first project so that it didn’t look like ribbing at all! On the positive side of things, this project shouldn’t take as long to complete the second go-around since I’m doing ~20% less stitches!
2/14 Finished Row 1 of Repeat 5. I’m really going to have to get busy and finish this project this weekend!! I still have vacation planning and packing to do, eek!
2/15 Finished Row 2 of Repeat 6 of Cowl.
2/16 Finished Row 6 of Repeat 7 of Kerchief.
2/17 Finished knitting, wove in ends, and blocked. Still need to find some buttons and make the button holes.
2/20 Got buttons (realized too late that one didn’t QUITE match), sewed down flap, attached buttons, and made button holes. I can’t wait to wear in Houston!!

Almost wish I hadn’t torn out the first version since now I feel like I wish the top were wider and would sit more nicely on my shoulders. I feel like it has a tendency to kind of droop down and feel like I might have to pin the sides to me when I wear it :/

Uploaded some pictures taken at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as well as at the Johnson Space Center (Space Cowboy!).
