I love Edie Eckman’s books and approach to crochet motifs and borders. I’m a long time knitter but have not crocheted for long. I love the idea of JAYGO (Join-as-you-go) so I decided this was the baby blanket I had to make for a friend.

I made all the colored motif centers, then I added 2 rounds of white around all of them, and then I added the last 2 rounds around one, beginning in a corner and joined the rest as I went, constructing the blanket in rows. It’s simple but because of the layered look of the motifs, looks textural and intricate.
