I absolutely loved this pattern! It was very easy to follow, and though it seems like there would be a lot of fiddly bits, there are really not that many. Lots of picking up stitches though… as least I got very good at that. :)
He took me a while to finish- several months, but I took several breaks to do other things, and I was in school for most of the time.
The only problem I had was that the front edges of the houppelande wanted to curl inwards, even after I’d ironed them. So I put a row of presstuds down the front and added some beads to look like buttons, instead of fastening with a belt like in the pattern.
The houppelande and chaperone come off, and so do the shoes! The rest could come off too, in theory, but they would be a pain to put back on.
