** Hepburn won an honorable mention in the Brooklyn General Squirrel Contest! Thanks to him, I was able to get a swift of my very own. **

During my freshman year of college, I spent a pleasant hour watching a squirrel eat an entire blueberry bagel while perched on the branch outside my window. Hepburn is inspired by that ravenous squirrel.

From start to finish in 3 days! Including one all nighter…

The pattern is my own, but I consulted a number of patterns for ideas for shaping techniques, including Alan Dart’s Lemur pattern (for body and feet) and Rachel Borello’s Henri the Knitted Bear (face and concave ear shaping).
I knit almost everything in the round, with intarsia for the white belly.

The bagel is based on Dorien’s donut pattern, with kitchener stitch for the join.

I almost didn’t attempt to make this because I didn’t think I had anything appropriate in my stash.. but the mysterious tweedy yarn is just perfect for a squirrel.
