Notes

My very first knit top! I’d never made anything I had to seam before. I took one of the Fit and Finish classes at Crazy for Ewe (my LYS), which taught me how to adjust the pattern measurements to fit my body.

I wanted longer sleeves, and somehow I latched onto the idea of making trumpet flares at the ends. I ended up ripping out and reknitting large sections of the sleeves twice before I got them right. In the end, I produced the flare by casting on twice as many stitches as I needed for the elbow and making each garter section six stitches wide instead of two. Then I gradually decreased to shrink the garter sections until I had two-by-two mock ribbing at the elbow. The cable motif, which comes shortly past that, helps accentuate the inward flow of the lines of stockinette.

I can’t wait for the heat of summer to dissipate a bit so that I can wear this comfortably…
