Day1: row 1-25
Some problems with the cast-on. So I decided to increase the needle size to 4mm (from 3.5) at the first part.
I’m already sure that this yarn is too elastic for this pattern… but it’s also non-froggable, so I’ll keep on. The yarn is soft and warm and lovely, so I hope it will be ok anyway, if not as nice as the showpieces.
Day2: row 26-48
Picture taken at row 42 (127 stiches). The color does not show off well. In reality it’s more toward petrol blue-green. I believe medium size (163 stitches before the lace chart) will be ok…
Day3: row 49-54
I think medium (163 stitches) is sufficient. Next knitting session will be with pattern and larger needels. Changed to needles size 4.5mm
Day4: row 55-57 /row1-3 of chart A
This is my first project with beads. Luckily I had 100g(1300beads) smoky grey, transparent 4mm rocailles in my knitting bag… And they match the yarn perfectly! Not a lot done today, but it’s progress. :)
Day??: finished row 55 - last row of of chart A
Used 100grams and a tiny bit of the third skein so far. Starting lace border B on needles in 5mm size.
Day??: Nearly finished chart B. I have changed to needle size 5.5mm. It seems that I will have to start on the fourth skein in order to complete the shawl.
Day??: Finally finished knitting. I’m doing the chrochet bind off. Didn’t have large enough needle so I used a 2.5mm. It looks OK, but not so dramatic as in the original pattern. Need a few meters of the fourth skein. And I have to remember buying a baby’s puzzle mat for the blocking.
Day??: Finished binding off. Total yarn usage is 3,3 skeins (13 grams of the fourth skein).
Finally finished blocking after a week of procrastination. Due to a mistake in the very first rows I’m unable to block the shawl in cesent shape.
Even though the yarn is not ideal for this harsh blocking I’m satisfied. Especially with the pearls and the size. (Which is “neck to bottom” - that is the tags is below the middle)
This yarn gives garnments a little “fluff” / halo and is quite loosely twisted. It does lint a little when knit on quite large needels (3.0mm or larger in my case) It is possible to felt it when splicing, but be sure to take out one strand of the 3twist from each side unless you want the splice to be thicker than the rest of the yarn. So far I’ve handwashed it without it felting in the wash.
