This was such a ridiculously fun, cute and fast knit. It was a really easy knit, but also had a few interesting things in the pattern to keep it from being boring. The only thing that was new to me (I just hadn’t come across it in another pattern before) was the way the hem is done. I did some searching on youtube to see if I could find anything about this technique, and (although I didn’t see it labeled as such anywhere in the pattern) I believe it’s called a tuck stitch. I loved working with the S & C yarn. It is so soft and comes in beautiful colors. It also knits up really fast.

The only mods that I made to this was to make it longer. I cast on for the 9 to 12 months size but I knit the length one size up, so that the skirt of is 9 inches long (before you get to the decrease). It fits my almost 9 month old daughter (who is small for her age), but with lots of room to grow into it. I wasn’t sure how the extra length would turn out, but I really like it and it’s not too long on her - it just gives her a couple more inches of wear out of it! If I had stuck to the original pattern (of 7.5 inches), I would have just had enough yarn to make it without having to break into the next skein.

Overall, great pattern that I will definitely make again.

ETA - my daughter is now almost 2 years old and just wore this a few days ago as a top. It is so cute and is so versatile.
