A shawl for me to wear at my wedding in October!
Materials ordered this evening:
- Patons 100% Cotton 4ply
- 3.75mm, 100cm circular knitting needle
12-01-2016
Yarn and needles arrived today! Need to continue making the chart friendly enough for me to knit from (I’m hopeless at reading charts while knitting - a skill to learn, but not on the shawl for my wedding).
Can’t wait to start!
Will be using 3.75mm 100cm circular needle.
Started - decide to attempt chart reading while knitting!

Completed Chart 2 today! Its looking beautiful - really proud of it so far!
(Row 59 of 173 completed - 34%!)

Cord of circular needle pulled out at Row 100…hopefully fixed, aiming to complete row 118 before changing up to bigger needle (will change to 4mm)

ARGH! Stupid circular needle.
At end of row 101 the following happened:
- Lifeline inserted into above row.
- All stitches transfered onto 2mm needle What happens next: Knit row 102 with 4mm needle (from 2mm needle)
Lessons learnt:
- Fixing a circular needle never works
- Lifelines are useful
- Transferring 346 stitches is time-consuming and fiddly.

I did a lot of knitting on this today. At least 6 hours I reckon.
Have finished row 119 using 4mm needle.
Have put onto lifeline and put out so can look at size and general prettiness. It looks gorgeous!
Will change to 5.0mm needle at start of row 120.
At end of chart 5, will insert another lifeline and decide whether to extend the mesh section or not.

Inserted lifeline into row 132 (end of chart 5) and tried it to decide about extending. It currently reaches just above my elbow so have decided not to extend it.
For chart 6 I’ll be changing up to 6mm needle at start and finally up to 7mm needle at row 20 of chart 8.

Only 6 more rows left to go!!! SO EXCITING!!!
(Forgot to make the note that I didn’t change up to 7mm needles at chart 8 because it was going to be slightly too lacy - 6mm needles are perfect for what I want!)
If knit lots more today I might even finish…but no getting too excited!
I FINISHED! Cast off using 4mm crochet hook (because bigger looked too loose and messy!)
