I only sort of followed this tutorial.

I started with five single crochets directly in the hair-tie because I didn’t like the look of the extra loops. I only used five because of the thicker yarn. I just double crocheted in every stitch like normal until it was 13” long. Then I did a row of single crochet to attach it back into the hair-tie.
