Notes

To make this suitable for my 3 year old, I followed the version for the smaller scarf but still using chunky weight yarn. I also adapted the pattern in various small ways…

  • I used smaller needles and reduced the size slightly in places (e.g. by casting on fewer stitches or starting to decrease earlier on the various pattern sections).

  • I made 4 legs instead of two (I’d never hear the end of it if Captain Detail noticed that his fox only had 2 legs).

  • I increased the i-cord towards the bottom of the legs to 8 stitches, to give the impression of paws

This yarn is inexpensive acrylic - very fluffy and soft to the touch and a pretty good option for kids’ toys. I am not sure what to do with the remainder, other than more toys.

Overall this was a fast and fun knit - you could probably make one in a day if you had enough sofa time.
