Notes

This was a simple improvised project for my sister, to use up some yarn left over from her hat. I simply cast on 16 stitches and knit loosely in stocking stitch, striping every second row.

The grey yarn is Rowan alpaca cotton - a chunky, soft yarn with a halo. The coloured stripes were made by holding together two strands of kidsilk haze in varying combinations (e.g. magenta + purple, then purple + blue, then two strands of blue) to give a gentle graduation of colour.

The contrast of yarn weights gives quite a pleasing thick & thin effect (if you like that sort of thing) and I like the way the stocking stitch curls in on itself naturally for a skinny effect.

Neither of these yarns have any itch factor - presumably due to the cotton & silk content.
