Notes

What a well written, easy to follow pattern…and it worked up very quickly! Had to make the cast on a bit smaller along the back with shorter sleeves and a shorter body to fit the bunny.

I use fingering weight yarn and a 2.5mm circular needle. When casting on, I leave a long tail for closing the neck at the end. I follow the pattern exactly for Rows 1-6, repeating rows 5-6 until the set-ups between the stitch markers reach 15/22/26/22/15. This gives the sweater just one buttonhole which I prefer. Then I begin the sleeve work. I usually knit these flat measuring them against the bunny and leaving room for 4 garter rows for a cuff before binding off. I match the second sleeve to the first. Once the sleeves are done and the pieces joined, I continue knitting until the length of the sweater is best for the bunny…again leaving room for 4 or 6 rows of garter stitch for a hem before the bind off.
The neckline comes out square so I have a trick. After I sew on the button, I thread a yarn needle with the tail from the cast on and weave it back through the loops of the cast on edge (neckline). I pull it until it fits around the bunny nicely and the sweater can be buttoned comfortably. Then I secure the end and snip the yarn.
