Mods to the original pattern:

• Started with six rows of garter stitch in latvian twist (2 row orange, 2 rows red & 2 rows orange).
• For the upper edge, I created a similar latvian twist border and grafted it to the mitts.
• Thumbs not in stockinette, but in reverse stockinette.
