I used the bodice/yoke portion of the pattern to make this shrug. I wanted a long sleeved shrug/bolero to go over the newborn size dress I had already made, so I worked the yoke section of the pattern in the next size up (3 months) to ensure that it would fit over the dress. (It seems pretty big, so I think I should have worked out something between the two sizes, but if it’s too big to be worn with the dress it can be something to grow into a few months later.) I didn’t really have a good reference for how long the sleeves should be so I just sort of eyeballed it until it looked right. (Now that I really think about it, this whole thing is pretty much a crap shoot when it comes to size…) I trimmed the neckline, sleeves and the entire body of the shrug with plain 1x1 ribbing (not the twisted rib called for in the pattern) in a contrasting color and bound off using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off.
