(hung to dry)
Done at last! A very well written pattern and a truly lovely piece. No modications were made (or needed). Though the dress has been put away for the winter, I don’t doubt that it will get much use in the summer months.
09/05/2011 - Have been procarasting beginning this piece (though it is stunning) as the gauge swatch took a lot of time and concetration to knit. I’m really behind now (completion date October 31), so it will be my primary focus.
01/10/2011 - Only 29 knitting days left and I am only now staring my third skein of the yarn! Eek. Admittedly I haven’t been monogomous to this project… there have been a few distractions and I strongly suspect that there will be a few more before the months end. That said this is my top priority right now. I figure that I need to knit through about 2.5 to 3 skeins of yarn per week to have time to finish and block the dress for the Oct. 30th deadline. The pattern is EXTREMELY well written and very clear it’s just hard staying motivated/focussed on this piece as it is now (officially) sweater weather here in Toronto and all that I really want to work on is cozy worsted/aran/bulky weight woolen sweaters, cardigans, coats, hats scarves and mittens. Alas there will be time enough for that soon.
A fun dress knit-along with some of my weekend knitting friends at the Purl. Each of us is working on a different piece; coilycurly on Soho smocked dress , JenniferC on ? , and pegthestashbuster on hip in hemp.
I’ve just finished the gauge swatch and will CO August 1.
I have been knitting so many garments in St st as of late that it will be nice to work on something a little more challenging.
