I fell in love with this hand dyed yarn when I saw it in the yarn shop in Exeter, California. Which sadly has closed.

After attempting a couple of scarves, namely, Wings of Desire and Saroyan, and being disappointed with how the colors were evolving, I found the intentional pooling group. Wenat’s pooling stoles seemed just the ticket, and Flower Power just the right pattern for Poppies and Lupines yarn. Only one problem: with only one skein, it’s not quite enough yarn for a full-sized stole. Hence, the shawlette. (I don’t think stolette is a word.) Though I would have preferred to knit a longer stole, I am nevertheless satisfied.

The color changes in this yarn are:
Orange to yellow 6”, Yellow to green 5”, Green to purple 5”, Purple 25”, Purple to green 5”, Green to yellow 5”,
Yellow to orange 6”. Total inches in each “round” = 57”.
The “magic number” coincidentally is 84, the same number as in the pattern.

The pattern and chart is easy to follow, especially with the double-yarnover flowers it’s next to impossible to get lost. The only slight confusion I had when I first began to knit this was about the instructions for the ^ symbol: “slip one, knit the next 2 stitches, pass slipped stitch over”. I began by knitting the 2 stitches separately and ended up with too many stitches in those rows. When I began to “slip one, knit 2 together, and psso” instead, it worked fine.
