October 14, 2014: This lovely pattern is awesome. The design is classic and this poncho will be a lovely addition to my wardrobe for years to come. Worth the time and fiber expenditure, this pattern isn’t your everyday non-thinking knit. It requires the heart to persevere and an eye that is on the lookout for row out. Use a favorite fiber that will ensure your piece will become a family heirloom that is your constant go-to wrap. Purchase extra buttons to make a true reversible poncho - doubling your value and wearability. Although certain that you will be anxious to get started on this fabulous project, don’t fail to do a swatch to ensure that gauge is accurate - it’s very important to the coloration and fit of your final piece.
To help you determine the size you need to make: I made the larger poncho. At the time I modeled this, I was wearing a US size 18/20 in women’s sizes. I am 5 feet 5 inches tall in these flats. I am large busted and usually require larger tops to get a proper fit. This size I made allows for great mobility and motion while giving a beautiful silhouette. The first set of photos (taken by my sweet husband on a near 100 degree day here on the Texas Gulf Coast) is the stitch pattern suggested in the pattern. The second set of photos is wearing the poncho fully reversed - so that the color blended panels are to the back. You can also place the buttons to allow for wearing it in reverse with the color panels/buttons on the opposite shoulder while remaining to the front. Whichever way you choose to wear yours, it will make you the fashion setter that comes when you wear a beautifully and classically designed piece that is hand knit.
