Blocked… 160cm x 70cm
I expect it to relax a bit smaller when unpinned!
I am a loose knitter, the pattern says 3.5mm needle, I used 3mm.
Stitch markers are your friend! I used one to mark the start of the pattern repeats and each repeat, and the centre spine. Sometimes the pattern draws stitches either side of the stitch marker, but not so often that it was a pain. It was also useful to make the stitch marker that marks the start of the spine section a different colour as well as a different coloured stitch marker to mark the spine stitch too.
I also paid attention on the purl row… that the yo were where they should be… so I could fix a problem, or at least be aware there was a problem, before I came upon it on the right side row.
Beware!
I think there is a mistake… section D, row 7.
The middle section either side of the spine. The pattern wants you to work 19 stitches. You only have 17 stitches after row 6. So, instead of the s2kpo I worked an ssk instead.
I also wouldn’t use the cast off suggested in the pattern. Not stretchy at all! I used the elastic bind off from here
Those errors and the fact it is a written pattern, not charted, means I’ve given it 4 out of 5 stars
I used my iPad a lot when knitting this. I took a photo of the section of pattern I was working on. Inserted it into onenote app and used the ‘highlighter’ to mark which pattern repeat I was working on. I also ‘highlighted’ where the centre stitch(es) fell in the pattern. When I had done that half of the shawl row, I ‘rubbed out’ the highlight and highlighted the next half of the repeats… it made it so much easier to quickly see where I was in the pattern amongst the sea of text on the page!
