Notes

General
First time knitting something sideways like this but pattern is very clear so I’d no problems.
Should maybe have knitted the upper sleeve larger but hopefully blocking will help.
Yarn is nice but not as soft as Kidsilk Haze and doesn’t seem to fill out as much either. Doesn’t seem to shed at all however.
I think I understand why I stopped knitting back in the 80s. I’d completely managed to repress how fiddly and boring sewing together knitted garments is. But I love the finished garment! It’s soft and fluffy and almost weightless.

Mods

  • Couldn’t get gauge for both row and stitch so went with the closest I could get = 18 x 24 on 4mm needles. I want it a little longer anyway.
  • Cast on using 4mm needle and then changed to 3mm for the cuff. Garter stitch cuff 30 rows = 7cm. Used lifted increases.
  • Finished increases at 48cm + purled one row.
  • Cast on for back with new skein on new needle using longtail cast-on. Continued with arm stitches. Cast on for front using same method.
  • Used shadow-wraps for the shortrows.
  • Knitted first stitch and slipped last with yarn in front at bottom edge both in back & in front.
  • Decreased (and increased at the end) 2 stitches for the neck in the back.
  • After middle of back mirrored the increase sections. Did the same on the front.
  • Knitted all increase sections on right side mirrored.
  • Making sleeve decreases (k2tog & ssk) 1st in from start/end of row.
  • Picked up 2 more stitches on the back of the neck to compensate for the slight decrease I did. Didn’t like how the neckline turned out however so unraveled all but the first two rows. Third row k3, k2tog to the end. Knit two more rows. Sixth row p3, p2tog to the end. Cast off.
