ETA 2015-07-17: I love, love, love this cardigan! It’s perfect for the varied Swedish summer weather! The dense fabric protects from the wind but it’s light so you don’t swelter.
General:
- I’ve been in love with this colourway for a long time and this cardigan was the perfect pattern to show it off. I absolutely love the result! The fit is fabulous and it’s both sturdy and elegant.
- Excellently written pattern but for the first time I’d to print out a whole pattern. There’s just too many steps and details to keep track of to just consult it on my iPad like I usually do.
- Buttons from tyg.se and button bands lined with a fabric from my mother’s stash.
Mods
- Made the last couple of 3Bs three rows instead of five and the last only one.
- Made the button bands 24 rows instead of twentysix and the neck band 4cm instead of four point five.
- Used the shadow wraps method for the short rows and it’s so quick and easy. Best short row method ever!!
- Knitted 3cm after the sleeve decreases were finished before starting on the cuff. Made the cuff 8cm instead on nine.
Timeline
2015-04-28: I broke one of the needles, how irritating! And there are far too many stitches to be comfortable to knit on straight needles.
2015-05-04: The new needles arrived so I could start on this again, hooray!
2015-09-11: Finished the right front and started on the left.
2015-05-12: Finished the left front and started on the back.
2015-05-15: Finished the back and the shoulders.
2015-05-18: Finished the button bands.
Started on the neck band but I need to get either a straight or cirkular 2.75mm needle, DPNs are just too fiddly when not knitting in the round.
2015-05-23: Got circular needle so I could finish the neck band.
2015-05-24: Started on the right sleeve.
2015-05-30: Finished right sleeve and started on the left.
2015-06-05: Finished the knitting! Only blocking and bottons left.
