I don’t think hard blocking is something that you should have to do with a stockinet cardigan so my gauge is what I get after an ordinary washing & drying.

Using TECHknitter’s trick for a neater transition from stockinet to ribbing.

Using 3.25mm needles for stockinet & ribbing on body, 3.5 for stockinet on sleeves, 3 for sleeve ribbing, 2.75 for buttonbands & neckband, and 2mm for picking up and knitting stitches.

Mods

• using GSR (doublestitch) for the shortrows,
• wanted sleeves a little roomier than on my first Elton so knit one more stripe on back and fronts before joining,
• knitted body two stripes shorter than my earlier one and made the ribbing the same,
• for sleeves picked up a stitch in two of every three rows = 74 st, made first decrease on r 16 then decreased every 8 r a total of 12 times = 50 st, knit 8 more rows before starting rib,
• for buttonbands picked up 3 st for every 4 r = 99 st, knit 6 r rib and bound off in pattern, no buttonholes since my buttons are tiny enough to not need them,
• picked up 105 st for neckband and knit as buttonband.

2021-08-26: Joined fronts and back.
2021-09-07: Finished body and started on right sleeve.
2021-09-11: Finished right sleeve and started on left.
2021-09-19: Finished left sleeve.
2021-09-21: Started on buttonbands.
2021-09-23: Buttonbands finished.
2021-09-30: Started on neckband.
2021-10-04: Finished!!
