General
This is a fantastic yarn to work with. Firm but still soft and very squishy. And every skein is larger than stipulated, around 110g.
Stranded colourwork pockets with the Mini Ull using this pattern.
Mods
- Casting on for the S/M size and will hopefully end up with something approx L/LX.
- Purled the 10th row. On the 10th row after the purl r knitted down the waistband, leaving an opening of 10st.
- Followed pattern for hip increases
but since I'm using wool instead of linen increased half the amount for the skirt = 303st total (101 in front 102 in back). Making afterthought pockets = k21 + k27 on waste yarn put back on left needle and knit again + k55 + k27 on waste yarn etc + k21. Knitted colourwork pockets in the round on 3mm DPNs. 15cm deep.
- Knitted the skirt straight from the hips without any more increases.
- Used 2.75mm needle for the hem lining. Purled 1 row, knit 9, on the 10th round knitted down the lining.
Timeline
2016-03-25: I’m not in the mood for this right now. Putting it into hibernation for a while.
2016-04-28 - 30: Knitted a little on this in between finishing the yoked pullover and starting the sleeveless tunic.
2016-06-21: Started on this again.
2016-06-23: I don’t know how I counted but this is turning out far too large. Started over using the smaller size.
2016-07-22: Finished the skirt proper and started on the first pocket.
2016-07-24: Finished the first pocket.
2016-08-01: Finally finished the second pocket. Feel a little uncertain about the feel of the skirt fabric. It might be too dense. Will see how it feels after washing.
2016-08-03: Hmm, I don’t think this sort of skirt looks right on me. Very vexing. I’m putting it into time-out for a while before I’m making the final decision but I strongly suspect unraveling it and reknitting it as a simple, straight skirt is the only way I’ll get a usable garment. Bother!
2016-09-07: Started unraveling.
2016-09-08. Finished unraveling up to the last side increase for the hips. Started knitting again.
2016-10-10: Finished knitting! Washed and waiting for it to dry.
