General
I really dislike patterns written row by row like this one. It makes it so much harder to customise. Give me the formula and tell me how many/how long to do for each size! Because my row gauge is off I will have to recalculate rows anyway so I will only use the basic outline and colourwork chart from the pattern.
MC Plum Imps, CC1 Mixed Magentas, CC2 Raspberry Swirl
Used 3.25mm needles for body stockinet & ribbing, 2.75 for neck ribbing, 3.5 for sleeves, and for sleeve ribbing
Approximate percentages: yoke 20%, body 50%, sleeves 30%
TCKAL cast-on post: #1221
Mods
- cast on with provisional CO and started shortrows immediately,
- used left- and right-leaning backward loop increases instead of M1s so skipped the YO on the alternate rounds,
- didn’t like the flat look of the neckline in front so made a total of eight shortrow pairs (five more than in pattern) to make it more rounded,
- picked up st from provisional CO for neck ribbing with MC, r 1 k1tbl k1 decreasing 8 st, r 2-5 k1tbl p1, r 6 k1tbl k1 with CC1, BO in pattern with CC2,
- knit 23 r MC between each contrast stripe,
- after finishing shortrows started alternating MC skeins, moved BOR to back right raglan and changed raglan increases to every third r,
- knit 22 raglan increases (366 st) + 2 more rounds before separating body (front/back 118 st) and sleeves (65 st),
- cast on 30 st for each underarm using provisional CO (296 st) and moved BOR right side,
- body since my hips are larger than my bust increased 2 st in each side every tenth r ten times (336 st), after last increase knit 8 r with MC + 1 r CC2 + 1 r CC1 (fifth stripe in body) + 2 r MC + 1 r CC1 increasing 1 st in each side (338 st) + body chart r 1-25 with colours reversed + 1 r CC1 + 2 r MC + 1 r CC1 + 1 r CC2 + 1 r MC, rib 1 r k1k1tbl with MC + 14 r twisted rib with MC + 1 r & BO with CC2,
- sleeves started with 95 st, decreased 1 st on tenth r then 2 st every tenth r eleven times (72 st), after last decrease knit 8 r with MC + 1 r CC2 + 1 r CC1 (sixth stripe on sleeve) + 2 r MC + 1 r CC1 + sleeve chart r 1-4 with colours reversed + 1 r CC1 + 2 r MC + 1 r CC1 + 1 r CC2 + 1 r MC, cuff using smaller needles 1 r k1 k1tbl while decreasing as pattern (64 st) + 13 r twisted rib - last r & BO with CC2.
