General
First time using Silk Blend for mitts. It will be interesting to see how it stands up to everyday wear.
This colourway is absolutely gorgeous and the photo doesn’t really make it justice. It’s such a lovely mix of bright red and saturated orange and yellow.
Pattern is very clear and consice and I love the way the cabling is turning out. I’m going to completely mirror the left mitt though. I prefer to always have the BOR at the outer edge of the hand.

Mods

  • Made the ribbing 10 rows.
  • Knitted 21 rows before starting gusset.
  • Gusset: Used lifted decreases so started with 2st. Did 8 increases = 18st. Knitted 8 more rows. Cast on 4st after putting gusset st aside.
  • Knitted 12 rows (incl cast-on row) = row 14 on chart. Then 10 rows rib. Bound off in pattern.
  • Thumb: Picked up 6st, decreased to 4 on first round = 22st. Knit 6 rows stockinet + 6 rows rib + bound off in pattern.
  • Left mitt: Started rib with k1tbl. Started chart after 29st. Started thumb after 18st.

2016-12-13: Finished first mitt and started second.
2016-12-15: Finished! Washed and waiting for them to dry.
