Notes

As it turns out, Louie, Caribou’s roomate , loves the bed a lot more.

I am reluctant to spend $120 for the suggested yarn for this cat bed.

I first attempted to spin my icelandic fleece in the grease, since it is supposed to have very little lanolin. Didn’t work. WAAAY to sticky.

It is spun on my Amos electric wheel, two ply, as fat as I could.

Ended up with about 320 yards, I knit it doubled on 15’s. My gauge was 8 sts/inch and 12 rows for 4”. I made the bed the suggested size, and finished it off with an attached I cord edging.

I didn’t want a “pillow”, I bought 1” thick foam and knitted a covering using 5 strands of assorted leftover handspun I have accrued thru the years. I knit with a size 13 needle, circularly. I washed the resultant “bag” with the plastic needle still on, soaking it in water with vinegar overnight to get rid of the mothball smell.

The foam cover knit from assorted handspun looks fabulous!

When it dried, I kirchenered the ends together over the pad. The upper edge of the bed itself tended to “bow” out, so I inserted some clear elastic within the I cord. Worked slick
