This pattern called for size I hook. Since I used a bulky yarn I figured would have to go down a hook size but actually still had to go up two sizes, to hook size K.

My first hat try, I did a stupid thing and did not check gauge first so had to rip out hat and start over. I’ve only crocheted for 43 years (hitting my head against the wall). Arghh.
