Inspired by pooki’s lace boxyand Nakkan’s, I set out to knit one lacy boxy for my nine year-old:
Cast on 110 sts on 3.75 mm. Worked 8 rows of 2×2 rib. Changed to 4.5 mm and knit 4 rows of garter st. Then worked the lace charts in the following order, separated by 4 garter st rows (or two purl ridges on the RS):
B(two wraps),D,C,B,B,A,(with single p ridge in between)A,C,B,D,B,C.
On front, started neck shaping in the last lace panel, and finished with short-run shoulder shaping in garter st. On the back, no neck shaping, just short- rows for the shoulder before BO.
Neck shaping:
Row 1: work 46 sts, BO the next 18 sts, work to the end.
On both sides of neck, decreased a further 2 sts on next alternate row and then 1 st on the next alternate row.
Short-rows: worked a total of four, equidistant wrap-and-turns on each shoulder, starting 8 sts in from the outer edge.
Arms: Picked up 62 sts around a 6 inch armhole, after seaming the sides. Knit the sleeves in rounds, decreasing one sts at the end of every 8th row, a total of times. Finished with 2 inch of 2x2 rib.
Did a rolled hem for the neck.
