Notes

Got the yarn from my bestest friend for my birthday! I think I can skate by with 4 skeins for an xs.

If I knit it in the round, I think I’ll save myself some yarn. I may also have to make the sleeves a little shorter. I also figure I’m really short, so the overall length will require less yardage. We’ll see what happens….

My gauge seems to be right on. I’m skeptical. That never happens. Also, I haven’t blocked anything, so the gauge shouldn’t be right on. What will happen when I wash it? Will it be gigantic? All questions that will have to be answered later. I considered dropping to 7s, but I was too lazy. It looks nice! The cables in chart B are pinched in the way all my cables pinch because I knit 4 st cables too tightly or something. I’m 7 inches in and almost done with my first skein, so I suspect I’ll need to find another skein somewhere, but, again, it remains to be seen. This is turning into a wonderful mystery sweater. I kinda like it. :)

This sweater feels like The Cure. I can see myself dancing to “Close to Me” in it. Some of the lyrics are pretty appropriate too: the cables are tedious and take forever and the yarn is too dark to see. It makes sense to me anyway, haha.

Split at armholes at 15”. I’ll follow the directions from here on out ‘til 22.5” long. I can tell the difference between my cables in the round and my back and forth cables. They look better in the round. No one else will be able to tell, I’ll bet.

Now that I’m almost done with the front (and skein #2), I can see that the two remaining skeins ought to be enough for the rest of the sweater. Yay!

Twisted rib is toooooortuuuuuure…. :P

One more sleeve. Just have to keep pushing.

Started the neck. Twisted rib…never again!

Finished! I tried it on and there’s just something about it I’m not crazy for, but it’s still a great sweater. Because I picked up 8 more collar stitches than called for, it doesn’t stand up right, but I’m going to iron it and see if that helps. I could have used the half an inch I cut out of the length, but it’s not terribly noticeable. Such a cute sweater! I have a snow day tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll get caught up with knitting pictures. :)
