Who knew Malabrigo lace was so cheap?!
I saw my co-worker making this and had to have one of my own. I’m hoping it will be done in time for the start of school so I can wear it for a little while before fall really sets in and the heavy sweaters have to come out.
Just finished the waist decreases and I’m 5 sts short! I have one more stitch in the back than I should (who knows how) but the fronts should be fine. Am I crazy? An inch missing could be a big deal! I suspect either the stitch count isn’t right or it meant that the decrease row should be repeated only once. I’ll just increase to the next written amount (plus 1!) and go from there. Counting this many stitches is a pain. A mistake is forgivable and easily unnoticed, for sure!
Just did one increase row and the stitch count came out fine. Even the extra one on the back is gone! I am so confused. Knitting elves? Maybe!
Done with the body (hurray!), but I cannot figure out the best way to bind this sucker off! I’d go for sewn, but there area shit-ton of stitches and this is single-ply, sticky lace-weight. Hmmm….
I tried every bind-off I could find and none looked very good or worked, so sewn bind-off it is. It’s just as messy as I thought it would be, but the finished product is absolutely perfect.
Why can’t I Magic Loop anything?! It’s a terrible affliction. :P Looks like I need 4s for the sleeves anyway so that means only one thing: I must finish Pacific Coast’s sleeves (which is really all that’s left of it anyway), figure out how to wash the green dye off the needles, then finished this sweater’s sleeves. Why doesn’t this sweater have a name? It’ll have to be a Jens Lekman song. Or maybe Fleet Foxes….I’ll know by the time the sleeves are done (which I hope is soon!).
I did one extra decrease in the sleeve to get the ribbing to work right.
I knit the sleeve to 11.5” before I started the ribbing. Originally, I was going to go to 15”, but I thought I might like the slightly-longer-than-3/4-sleeves instead. I’ve bought a couple new shirts with sleeves that length and they are pretty great. One sleeve down, one to go!
Named for the Patrick Wolf song. I can just picture this cardigan in the music video…. :)
