The instructions on the Ravelry pattern page say to do a backwards look cast-on. DO NOT DO IT! I think there is a chance I may go to hell after I die and my punishment, almost certainly, will be to knit 545 backwards loop cast-on lace weight stitches on a US 4 or 5 circular knitting needle. If you have straights long enough, start with them!

I’m not sure this yarn is quite right for this pattern. It’s a sort of heavy lace weight. Fluffier, anyway. It’s still pretty, just different than the other Emily Dickinsons I’ve seen. If I stretch the crap out of it when I block it, it should be very nicely large and thinner. I’m not worried enough the scrap the project, just making a note to self.

All my doubting was for naught. Holy crap this shawl is amazing! AMAZING! It was worth every headache it gave me (all my fault, really)!
