I have the correct gauge, but I should have cast on 4 fewer stitches to account for the fact that cotton has no spring. Right now, they are a tiny bit looser than I’d like, but I’ll wait until I have separated the thumbs to decide my next move.

I didn’t change anything, just kept knitting. They are really cute mittens. A less than ecstatic smiley because I’m still iffy about the colors.

You can really see my crimping iron scar on my right arm in the first picture. Weird, I had no idea it was so apparent 20-odd years later. Maybe it’s not to anyone but me. It does look just like a shadow or a hairy patch of arm. :)
