Black yarn, diagonal lace, twisted rib in 1x1 AND 1x2…these really ARE cursed socks!
My ankles are much fatter than the ankle written for the smallest size. We’ll see how that goes. :/
These went into hibernation for a little while half-way into the second sock and I must not have meant them to, because I didn’t mark my spot in the ankle chart when I stopped. I figured it out eventually. I’m not really sure what happened after that, though. I got down to the toe when I tried them on and realized that the left sock looked funny. Not quite symmetrical to the right. Turns out, I had done the heel flap on the front of the sock….
What’s odd is that I did it as written and I’ve looked at it a few times and cannot figure out how it would work as-written. The first 28 sts you knit for the heel flap section are supposed to be the heel, but for the left foot, it should be the last 28 sts. I ripped out all my hard work back to the heel section and flipped it, so now I will have symmetrical socks. John said they looked fine before, and he was probably right, but it would have bothered me endlessly. I wonder if there are errata….
No errata. I just can’t read. mirrormirror’s notes enlightened me: the heel doesn’t work on the left foot if you knit the first 28 sts because “k 28 sts” is labelled “RIGHT FOOT ONLY”. Duh. In any case, I’m on track and might have a finished sock by end of day tomorrow (like I almost did this afternoon!).
