Once you get used to reading the mosaic chart, particularly that the dark & light blocks reverse their meaning every 2 rows, it’s easy-peasy colorwork!
My LYS, Handmade Memories, is having a charity raffle to send funds to Haiti. It will be comprised of donated 10x10 squares of Cascade 220 in blue/green/purple, crocheted together & auctioned off. More info HERE.
I think I’ll use Puppets 1&2 mosaic stitch patterns from Barbara Walker’s Charted Knitting Designs: A Third Treasury (p. 207). Hopefully, my crap knitting math will carry me through on the size.
Bound off & blocked during Michael Buble’s Mountie song!
2/28/10: Finished knitting at Sit ‘n’ Knit at YARN today, but realized that I’d deformed 2 of the women’s heads! Frogged back & performed some ‘wool surgery’, restoring them to health.
Back at home for the Olympic Closing Ceremonies, I picked up stitches around the edges & knit a border to bring the square to it’s req’d 10x10 inches.
2/26/10: Decided it was easier to just start over, so I did. While listening to Turn of the Screw on CraftLit (episodes 35-37), I finished all 36 rows of the dudes and the first 12 rows of the babes.
2/23/10: Only 7 rows in & it’s already FUBAR.
2/22/10: Talked to Bea & I think I can get the right size square doing the 3 dude/5 babe repeat pattern shown in the photo; I’ll pick up stitches and add a border when finished to fill out to 10in. Cross your fingers!
