Took me 6 months to knit (hence the name), only finished when I did ‘cuz I wanted to sport ‘em on my 45th birthday.
Wanted to try this pattern since before I started knitting socks - I heard great things, all are true!
6:40pm: DONE! DRESSED! & off to the PARTY!
6:35pm: Oh, shit our ride is here, & I’m still kitchenering!
6:25pm: Time to KUI (kitchener under the influence)!
5:30pm: No shower. But I’m on the toe! Our ride will be here at 6:45!! Will I be done?
4pm: Am realizing I can either a) finish the sock & wear it to the party tonight, or b) take a shower.
3pm: Ok, I am now at exactly the spot I was 3 hrs ago when I found the dropped stitch. Knit on!
Noon: I was almost to the toe, & I just realized I dropped a stitch in the increases about 1.5” back. Crap! Must. Rip. Back. Argh!
6/9: I SO want to wear these on my birthday - TODAY - I will finish them to wear bowling tonight!
6/8: So close to the toe I can almost taste it!
6/3: Almost 2” got knit - WOOT!
5/24: I actually knit a coupla rows while waiting with a friend in the ER.
5/21: I knit exactly 1/4 of one row tonight at Purl ‘n Hurl. Go, Velma! (I am SOOO ready to be done with these damn socks.)
3/26: I discovered last week that when I was knitting on these, I ‘lost’ (not dropped, lost) a stitch somewhere. Took me ‘til yesterday to find the row where I forgot an increase; frogged back about 2.5”, all the way to the heel flap. :( Ready to move forward once again. Gotta say: getting pretty sick of knitting these!
1/11: I haven’t been updating this project, but I’ve been squeezing in a few rows each night. I’m about 4” into the 2nd sock.
1/3: Too Much Coffee Girl, I finished about 2 inches tonight.
1/01/09: All I did on Christmas was the CO row. Little Miss Big Accomplishment! 2 more rows today.
12/25: Finally, time to knit for myself! Casting on #2.
12/15: Sock #2 has been postponed due to holiday knitting deadlines…
12/8: One sock down!
11/25: Finished foot on sock #1. Only the toe is left now!
11/22: Finished leg and heel on sock #1.
11/19: Took ‘em with me on my hike to visit Luna, the redwood that my friend Julia Butterfly occupied for 728 days in 1997/98. I sat inside her and knit, one of the most powerful places I’ve ever pulled out my needles.
11/18: Since the pattern notes mention that gauge is critical, I did my first-ever in-the-round gauge swatch; good thing, too, ‘cuz mine is waaaay off with this yarn on #1 needles. Gonna try it with #2s. Can’t find my #2s, and I like the fabric that was created with the #1s, so I decided to just knit a size bigger than I normally would (so I’m making the 9.75”-ers.)
