Notes

I lengthened the sleeves by quite a bit. I added inset pockets behind the leaf motif on the lower fronts and I liked the leaf so much that I put one at the centre back as well.

I alternated skeins every other row and am really pleased with the results. However, I carried the yarn on the same edge that I sewed the buttons on (the opposite edge where the buttonholes were worked). I should have worked half as many buttonholes and done something to stabilize the other edge of the work - the carried yarn pulled in the row gauge a little and garter stitch just stretches out like mad vertically. I went back and slip stitched with a 5mm crochet hook along the button hole vertical edge (one slip stitch for every row, skipping every fourth one) and it’s kept the piece from growing any more vertically and hasn’t ruined the line at all, from what I can tell. The top and bottom corners are still a little off from the opposite side of the cardigan but it’s a huge improvement from what it was originally like.
