Finished Chest Measurement: 18.5 inches
Pattern Changes:
Front: Cast on 57 stitches. After shaping, stitch count = 49 stitches
Back: Cast on 58 stitches. After shaping, stitch count = 50 stitches
Sleeves: Cast on 28 stitches. After increasing and shaping, stitch count = 36 stitches
Total stitch count going into yoke = 171
I then followed the yoke instructions verbatim. In retrospect, I probably should have done 5 rows of each rib section instead of 7.
Also, if I were to knit this again, I’d completely avoid the armhole shaping. It looks very unsightly. Instead, I would knit until right before the shaping is supposed to happen, join all of the pieces, knit 5 or 6 rows of stockinette, and then begin the yoke portion. I’d have to mess with some of the stitch counts in order to make this work, though.
Even after modifying the number of stitches, this sweater still turned out really big.
I created crochet buttonholes on the back of the sweater and added 5 Hello Kitty buttons.
2/27/10: My friend’s baby is due towards the end of March. I hope I can finish this before she’s born!
3/2/10: 12:20pm The front piece is finished.
3/5/10: The back piece is done.
3/6/10: One sleeve is done. I started the second.
3/7/10: Everything has been joined, and I’ve started knitting the yoke. The first 5 rows were very awkward.
3/8/10: I’m slowly making progress on the yoke. It’s gotten pretty boring, so I’ve been dragging it out.
3/10/10: Only 6 rows left. No excuses - I must finish the knitting and blocking tonight.
