Nov 22nd:
The ribbing comes out very firm and elastic :) Should keep its shape well.

December 5th:
Right front almost done. Looks good :) I decided to omit the pockets.

January 28th:
I just found a jumper which I think will look lovely with this cardigan, and turn it into a twinset. Depending on how this cardigan will perform, whether it will keep its shape after wearing, and how it will look after, say, a month or two, I might knit up the jumper as well.

25/6-15
Knitting both sleeves at the same time will result in two identical sleeves, and I know it is the sensible thing to do, but man is it slow going! At the moment I am knitting 1 hour and 10 minutes a day (still increasing knitting time by 1 minute a day), and later when knitting is something I can do whenever I want I don’t think I’ll exceed 2 hours a day, so finishing this cardi will most likely take at least 2 more months. It feels like a very long time, but at least I’m sure I’ll be able to finish it, which is wonderful, and I’ll be able to wear it this fall :)

16/7-15
Started sleeve top decreases. Seems I’ve finally reached the point where I can knit as much as I like (within reason). I knitted for approximately 2.5 hours today, up to 1 hour in a sitting.

27/9-15
mods for sleeve tops :
unravelled down to second pattern repeat, from here on I decreased every 2nd row until I was left with 33 sts.

stitched the cardi together, will start front band, and either knit shoulder pads or stitch in foam shoulder pads.

1/10-15
Very nearly done :-) just need to stitch the button band on, reinforce it, and decide on shoulder pads and buttons.

03.10.2015

Decided to do hand made buttonholes, but couldn’t find an exact colour match for the silk twist, so had to settle for a darker colour. This might have looked good if I had done a satin stitch buttonhole, but as I made traditional tailors buttonholes this did not turn out a great success. Will try machine stitched button holes tomorrow, and see if that looks better.

The buttons are in place and the shoulder seam reinforcement is done, and when I tried it on I decided it looks better without shoulder pads. The pads made the shoulders look bumpy. I might get hold of larger pads and see if they work better, but so far I’m happy with the cardi. It’s soft, warm and very, very comfy.

The good news is that the machine made buttonholes look fab, the bad news is that I’ll have to redo them, as I spaced them too close together. Thank goodness I have quite a few meters of the ribbon I’m using. This makes me question whether it’s really that important to reinforce the button bands. Oh well, I’ll just have to let it sit for a while before returning to the sewing machine.

Finally done! Huzza! Unfortunately there are no good places in our apartment for picture taking, hence the rotten quality of the picture of the finished cardi. Will put it on once the weather cools down some, and have a friend take proper pictures.

15.08.2016

I won’t be using this yarn again. It pills and it looks as if it’s paled.
