27.11.2017

It proved very hard to estimate tension on this fabric, probably because it so loosely knitted. At first I thought tension came to 3,6 sts per inch on 7mm needles, but when I cast on 100 sts to get the required width, it turned out much wider than this after approx. 6 inches of knitting.

I’ve unravelled it and cast on 80 sts as per the pattern.

After 9 inches of knitting the width seems to have landed on a little over 23 inches. I’ve decided to do 5 increases at the sides, which makes another 10 stitches, and lands the total at 90.

Cast off for revers after 24 inches.

29.11.2017 - construction

After reading the pattern I’m not so sure if the construction method listed is the best. It says to join the outside with the lining first, that’s fine. But then it says to crochet a picot edging all the way around before stitching the sleeves. It sounds backwards to me. Once it’s done I’ll pin the sleeves together, try it on and then decide. I suspect stitching the sleeves first would be better.

01.12.2017 - yardage

Looks as if 1 skein will yield approx 9 inches of fabric, which means I’ll need 5 of either colour for the outer layer and the lining, plus extra for the crochet edging.

I’ve just been to the lys and got the rest of the yarn for the bed wrap. I decided on a very, very pale green for the lining and edging :)

15.12.2017

The outer layer is done, and I find myself looking for excuses not to knit the lining. I really don’t like knitting the same thing twice, and doing it back to back might be more than I can stomach. Will have to give it some thought.

I’ve considered lining it in silk, but the silk has no stretch to it, so I don’t think that will work. Hmmmm…

Will banish it to the UFO-pile for now.

The size and shape looks good.

Picking this up again, inspired by the Vintage Undies-Lingerie KAL (All things vintage group). Really excited about the KAL, can’t wait to see all the finished projects. Who knows, perhaps I’ll get the inspiration I need to finish the step-ins that’s been languishing in my UFO-pile for years ;)

19.02.2018

Nearly there. All that’s left is the crochet edge and the ties at the front :) It looks really snuggly and warm.

20.03.2018

I finished this some days ago, and my is it cosy and comfy :)
