Don’t know if all these colours will work well together. If not I’ll take back the ones I don’t need and get others instead. I’m satisfied with how it comes out so far. As the skirt guard grows it’s easy to see the logic of the pattern, but I’ve had to make quite a few changes along the way. I’m not sure if it’s the pattern or my translation though. In all fairness I don’t actually speak Dutch :/

Having studied the picture of the original I can see that there are quite a few side increases. I am skipping most of them as I think they would make the skirt guards too large.

Picking this up again :) I’m taking copious notes as I go along as I’m making quite a few changes to the pattern. At least I think I am making changes. Translating from a language I don’t speak is tricky.

One of the changes I’m making is adding a fan at the bottom. This will make it easier to attach to the bike.

Another thing is that Norwegian bikes have less distance between mudguards and wheels than Dutch bikes, so I found I didn’t need the top row of clusters for my skirt guards. If I were to crochet this again I think I would have used a finer thread. It would made a more airy skirt guard and I could have fitted the final row in as well.

I was thinking of posting the pattern on my blog once I’m done.

Finished the second part today, just need to weave in ends and decide how to finish it. I’m leaning towards crocheting the two parts together rather than lacing them together. We’ll see :)
