Notes

The yarn was unravelled from a previous project (the shrug in Custom Knits 2, which looked great but kept falling off my shoulders).

As my gauge is 19 st to 4”, I’m making it one size smaller.
After finishing my first sleeve I realised it was not going to fit into the armhole, so instead I’m going to pick up and knit the sleeves directly from the armhole.

Also, for the button band I didn’t want to knit a long strip and then attempt to sew it onto the body. I tried this type of construction twice with Mel Clark’s Everyday Cardigan and failed both times. Instead, I and joining the band to the body as I knit the band.

It took me a couple of goes (i.e. I re-knit them twice each!) to get the sleeves at the right width. But I’m now happy with them at elbow length.

There’s a photo of one of my big sleeve boo-boos, where I accidentally knit it upside down…

Also, I didn’t like the buttonhole placement (as you can see in the photo) so I took off the button and will eventually replace with snaps or something.
