Notes

This is a very clever pattern, using the purl stitch to its best advantage in blending colors and creating texture.

Tried this in cotton w high contrast colors after working with analogous runs of color for a while. I like the colors but think the blending, jogs and decreases are a bit too apparent in cotton. A fuzzy wool would probably soften them. Really hate the stripe jog scar--so much for jogless stripes. But I’m planning another in green cottons, so guess I’m not too discouraged. = ) (Finished here)

Followed the pattern fairly closely, except reversed to brim up. Really didn’t like top down. Used two related colors for ridges instead of one. Swatched several variations and liked the coral/brick/coral best, which comes out looking brick/coral/brick in purl. Colors inspired by coral dogwood trees.

The Twinkle Cruise was a lovely color, but splitty and kept losing its twist.

A picture of the reverse side shows how the colors work. Reverse not nearly as attractive--the pattern has no mystery on that side.
