Notes

Might not be a “new” Revive-a-Vintage because this pattern already was a recently revived Vintage pattern. But I include this in the complete spirit of bringing notice to Vintage patterns. The styling is timeless, the practicality infinite, and the pattern ingenious.

1898 HAT PATTERN NOTES
The construction of this hat was inspired by one pictured in a magazine published around 1910. Knitting the headband side to side provides a double layer of garter stitch to keep the ears warm, and allows for easy shaping of the earflaps. The edges of the headband are folded together along a slipped stitch seam, and picked up together to finish in the round. The hat has plenty of depth so it can be pulled low on the forehead, and the earflaps will naturally cup around the ears to keep them warm.

For the Revive-a-Vintage “contest” I pledge 3 of these projects (hats)by April 15th which will be donated to Christmas at Sea. (Here are #2 and #3)
These are extremely popular with the Seamen who are in such need of warm, comfortable, practical hats.
Warm, comfortable, hand knit. Timeless.

Provisional cast-on Video.

This is Hat #1 of my Goal of 10 for their annual drive.
