Notes

This is so much fun to knit. I knit a square in about the time it takes to watch a Star Trek episode with the hubby! :) I hate seaming squares, though…not sure how that will go.

This will be for our little baby girl due in January.

9/30/09 -- All squares completed and blocked. Just need to sew them together and add the borders. :)

10/22/09 -- All squares sewn together. Borders next! I found a FABULOUS reference for mattress stitch in various situations in the Debbie Bliss “Simply Baby” book. Color illustrations for joining different types of seams using mattress stitch. I can honestly say I think this project has helped me master mattress stitch!

10/26/09 -- The picot edge directions say to use the “backwards loop cast on” method. After trying cast on using backwards loop, cable, and needle…I found I prefer using cable cast on for a picot edge bind off. This is generally the most preferred method of picot edging (as I’ve found online and in reference books). The backwards loop makes a sort of dragon spine. The needle cast on makes a leaning bump. The cable cast on makes a neat rounded picot. I preferred this as it looked more “girly.”

10/28 -- Shadow approved!
