Rosco44 is a color gel used in stage lighting. The name of the gel color is “Rose Pink” and it’s a very dramatic color. I have always loved it. It evokes sweet memories for me, particularly of Charlie, the fellow who ran the scene shop at the University of Alabama Department of Theater and Dance.
I went to Alabama for grad school to study scene design. I learned so much from Charlie. Not just about how to build and cover flats or how to hang a light, but how to manage a group of recalcitrant students, the finer aspects of beer drinking, how to take a joke, how to tell a joke, how to be a raving Alabama fan (and how to disparage Auburn) and the difference between a “skosh”, and “scooch” and a “RCH”.
Charlie called Rosco44 and any pink color close to it “T!tty Pink.”. Charlie is no longer with us. He passed away several years ago from a heart attack at his desk. I hope he had a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Cheers, Charlie.
This yarn is actually Manos Wool Classical Naturals, and the single ply has a lot of thick and thin, which creates this kind of “popcorn” look to the felted project. I plan to dress up the bag with iron-ons and trim. Bedazzle it or something. :)
