Notes

awful lars von trier film but these blues do remind me of the moon on deep water. modifications - played around with striping and yarns, used 5 yarns instead of 2 and different textures - alpaca silk, noro, merino. edges k2 yo …. yo k2 - still important to keep those two knit sts very loose. stretchy bind off as at http://www.knittingdaily.com/blogs/daily/archive/2008/07/...

jul - finished section 1 within 24 hours in misti alpaca. gorgeous yarn. am loving knitting this pattern, just what i needed right now. am v excited to begin the noro stripes. four stripes done; 36(?) to go.
jul - 22 stripes done! i am still loving this. the long colour rpts in the noro just make you want to keep knitting and knitting to see when the next one comes. when am i going to get to that mauve??
jul - done 31 stripes, finally got to the mauve just at the very end of stripe 30. have been measuring yarn weight as i go - each blue stripe is about 4gms at the moment and i have 9gms left so certainly safe to do one more noro and one more blue stripe before the red. bit further along than i had originally intended but i thought it best to use up the navy blue first. and hooray, i have used up a ball of stash yarn!
jul - took the plunge and worked a red stripe at number 34; 37 stripes now done but have knit more than that :-( worked red then next blue and a bit of first noro row and decided that it looked wrong. frogged back to the red, picked up the hundreds of stitches, knit a dark blue stripe, noro stripe, next blue stripe. hope that i make it to the green that is lurking in my noro ball.
jul - worked stripe 40, hooray! actually encountered a knot in the noro. v annoying. dark green knotted with mauve. after being so faithful to the colour changes i did end up doctoring it. spliced in at the end of the next dark green stretch which led onto the light green. will knit two set up rows of edging with the heirloom blue then the rest with teh misti alpaca. unbelievably have not even used up half the noro ball. may be able to do another one!
jul - started on the border, 2 purl ridges complete, 5 to go (20 rows).
jul - 3 purl rows of the border done. this bit is tough, no self striping to keep you intrigued! 14 rows to go …
jul - 8 rows to go. this is mind numbing. i can’t keep my eyes open …
jul - 6 ridges done, 4 rows to go. can i do it today? can i? 11pm - i did it, i did it. will cast off tomorrow. ends to weave in, blocking to do.
jul - cast off!! ends, then block. 11pm again - ends woven in this afternoon, currently blocking. i didn’t pin it out to have a smooth edge, i pinned it out irregularly to resemble seaweed. it’s so light and drapey and it’s warm upstairs so i don’t think that it will take long at all to dry. soooo happy, this pattern/design is awesome. 11:45pm - have been crocheting. feel a bit bereft that this is finished :-(
