12/12/13 Reworked a couple of the puffs that got wonky. I still love this no end! My favorite project ever.
Officially finished May 15, 2012 but have tweaked some of the edge puffs here and there. Still love this quilt like mad! It’s been an epic journey.
This has been one of most enjoyable projects I’ve ever made. My goal was 2 a day and that’s about what I did (special knitting time at 5am).
Not having knitted with sock yarn very often, this gave me the opportunity to try some different yarns as well as meeting some very fun and sweet ravelers.
June 2. Replaced 2 edge puffs that were apparently irresistible & tasty to my terrier…

What I would do differently
I would use a bit more stuffing. Some of my puffs are a bit flat and I suspect with use they may flatten more. I have added more batting to some of the sadder ones with a fluff injection… using a small crochet hook and pulling it through one of the sides.

425 puffs is probably as large as I’d want to go when just connecting at the corners. The weight of this may pull a bit.

Puffs measured approximately 3” across, although some of the earlier ones were quite diverse!
The count is 15 and 16 across and I did a curved edge at the top and bottom with 14.
I used needles in sized 2’s, 3’s and 4’s depending on the yarn. Next time I wouldn’t use the size 4, makes the puffs a bit too loose. And I would use a prettier color for the ties, but in the spirit of using up some stash,I used what I had on hand.

I love the randomness of the colors… a crazy quilt/ friendship quilt kind of thing. Many puffs have a great little story or memory and I like it that way. It was my first real KAL and so very fun.

Found the vintage Bee pin at a church rummage sale… 25 cents!
