I used the size hook called for (E), but it proved kind of difficult to crochet this size yarn with. I don’t know if that was a mistake, or if it is intentional and, if so, perhaps the purpose is to create a very dense crocheted fabric. It was doable, but it made for some very tight crocheting.

The butterfly “button” is a large bead I had in my craft stash. I made the lid larger than the pattern called for so it would come down over the top edge of the case when closing it.

I keep small things like needles and folding scissors in a small case, and this will fit inside this also, so I opted not to crochet the stitched-on rectangle the pattern offers. Or, I can totally see sticking a needle into the crocheted stitches on the inside of the case.
